Many years ago, I began the painful and frustrating journey
called divorce. I had no idea that when my wife left me and the
children, someday I would be fighting to get them back.
I am amazed at how often I hear stories of men who have been
fighting for years just to maintain custody. Like myself, these
fathers at one time had joint custody or were the primary
custodial parent. All too often, the mother in the situation
simply files a few papers with the court, make a few
allegations, and before you know it she has the kids and the
father is left with nothing. There has Click here to read more from this article

Courtroom FEA: FEA = Finite Element Analysis
As a product liability professional, it is important that you
know what Finite Element Analysis (FEA) can do for you. If you
don't, your adversary might. Whether you serve plaintiffs,
defendants or both, you're probably already familiar with FEA.
Simply put, if a loss, injury or death is due to something
bending or breaking, FEA can help explain the failure.
An experienced FEA expert can determine the stresses and
displacements in the failed part. When compared to industry
standards, earlier designs and competitive designs, this often
identifies the cause of failure, and hence the responsible party.
As in any field, your choice of an expert is important in making
your case. It's not unusual for an inexperienced FEA analyst to
generate incorrect results; this is both a warning to the wise
and a strategy for dealing with the other side's expert.
FEA results lend themselves to color plots and animations,
making conveying the key concepts to the jury much easier.

Conjure up an image of divorce. The average person visualizes
people sitting in a courtroom, giving testimony, with a judge at
a bench presiding over everything. But the actual reality of
most divorces is dramatically different. Forget high profile,
exciting confrontations in courtrooms that were built 50 years
ago. Most of the time, one or both spouses will never see the
inside of a courtroom. More often that not, one spouse attends a
short, 10 minute hearing. During the hearing a judge reviews a
mediated settlement agreement, previously negotiated by the
parties. If everything looks proper, the judge signs off on the
divorce.
